2019 Credit Card Fee Survey

2019 Credit Card Fee Study:

What's Normal and What's Not?

Credit card fees are nearly unavoidable – every card has some. A better understanding of these fees, however, can help you select the right credit card for your needs and save money.

The 2019 U.S. News Consumer Credit Card Fee Study analyzed the fees of hundreds of credit cards active in the U.S. News card database, identifying average annual percentage rates, annual fees, and late and transaction fees.

Study highlights:

  • Nearly 70 percent of credit cards don’t charge an annual fee.
  • Of the cards that charge an annual fee, the average fee is almost $110.
  • The average APR is between about 17 and 24 percent.
  • The average maximum late fee is about $36.
  • Ninety-six percent of cards charge a balance transfer fee of usually 3 to 5 percent, and the minimum fee ranges from $5 to $10.
  • Almost 40 percent of cards waive foreign transaction fees.

Building a Unique Cash Bucket

How full is your Cash Bucket? In a recent article Kiplinger suggests that for retirees to survive a Market Swoon (Market Drop) investors should have a "Cash Bucket". The article claims: "Some advisers recommend creating three "buckets" of investments: a) cash and short-term CDs; b) short and intermediate term bonds; and c) stock and bond funds".

They go on to state: "If you've planned for the inevitable downturns (you did, right?), you should have enough in cash and cash-like investments to cover two to three years of living expenses". Having a Cash Bucket lets investors leave their portfolio intact during a downtown, allowing it to recover as the market also recovers. This is a great idea. The question is how to build up a Cash Bucket that will continue to grow over time despite market downturns.

Watch out below!!!

Dear Friends,

Watch out below! The stock market is having one of the worst January's in history and no one knows when this trend will end. There is only one asset that is not correlated with the stock market and/or interest rate volatility, and is guaranteed to grow tax-free every year for as long as you hold it. The asset build up within this versatile financial instrument may be used to supplement your retirement on a tax-free basis, pay off your mortgage, help with your children's college costs and there are so many other alternatives, plus your heirs will inherit any remaining funds without having to pay income tax on this part of their inheritance.

Tony Robbins in his recent book, "MONEY, MASTER THE GAME", called this financial instrument the Rich Man's Roth IRA.  You do not need to be rich to obtain this financial instruction.  The key is allowing enough time for compounding.  Alberto Einstein once said: ""Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it ... he who doesn't ... pays it."

If you want to know more, just contact me. I am available to answer your questions and doubts about this versatile financial instrument in the most professional and confidential manner.
